Our Young People

Girl Guiding UK

At St. Augustine’s we have very large and active Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units. Girlguiding UK is the United Kingdom’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, and it recently celebrated 100 years of guiding in 2010.

St. Augustine Rainbows

Rainbows are girls aged five to seven. We follow a programme called the Rainbow Jigsaw, which has four areas: LOOK LEARN LAUGH LOVE! It includes a wide range of activities and games.
Rainbows is all about learning, doing our best, being kind and helpful, making friends and most of all having FUN!
Like their older Brownie & Guide sisters, Rainbows take a Promise:
I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful.
St. Augustine’s Rainbows is an extremely active and welcoming unit. Some of our recent activities have included a Mad Hatter’s Tea party with 300 other Rainbows at Blackland Farm and a Film Lover’s Sleepover!
Interested?
If you would like to place your daughter on the waiting list, don’t delay! We are also always in need of more leaders and unit helpers.

Cubs, Beavers and Scouts

Our parish Beaver Scout Colony is open to children aged 6 and 7. Our parish Cub Scout Pack is open to children aged 8 - 10.

Need to Talk?

There are times when young people really need someone to talk to about a problem or things they’re thinking about: someone outside of your family, someone who you know will say nothing about it to anyone else and think nothing less of you whatever you have to say. The priests are always available for you. Never hesitate to ask. Come alone, or with a friend, or as a group. Just ask. We are always here for you.
