Guides, Brownies and Rainbows

At St. Augustine's, we have very active Rainbow, Brownie, Guide, and Senior Section units. Girl-guiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK, celebrating 100 years of guiding in 2010.

St. Augustine's Rainbows are girls aged five to seven. We follow a programme called the Rainbow Jigsaw, which has four areas: LOOK, LEARN, LAUGH and LOVE. It includes a wide range of activities and games. Rainbows is all about learning, doing our best, being kind and helpful, making friends and most of all having FUN!

Like their older Brownie and Guide sisters, Rainbows take a Promise when they are ready to do so:

I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful.

Brownies logo

St. Augustine's Brownies are girls aged seven to ten years old.
Through regular meetings, special events, day trips, sleepovers and holidays, Brownies learn new hobbies, play music, explore other cultures and get adventurous outdoors. Girls can also extend their knowledge and abilities by working towards Brownie interest badges covering many different hobbies and activities from Science investigator to Circus skills!

Brownies become a member of a Six and follow a programme called the Brownie Adventure. The name reflects the world of exciting opportunities, challenges and fun that is Brownies.

Guides work together in small groups or ‘patrols' with the help of unit leaders and extend their knowledge and skills by working towards interest or special challenge badges and Go For Its (GFI).

We also like to go ‘out and about' as much as possible and love to camp and take part in indoor residentials!

During 2013, St. Augustine's Guides have the opportunity to take part in the following optional activities outside of the meeting place: Division Camp, trip to Thorpe Park, Wellies & Wristbands festival-style summer camp, Kaboom! (sleepover at the Science Museum in London).. just to name a few!

New friends, badges, activity days, outdoor cooking, camping, first aid and fire safety much more!

Senior Section

Are you a girl that is 14 to 26? If so, you might be interested in the Senior Section, which is all about friends and fun, where you will be challenged to try new things and to change the world through the Look Wider programme. There is a huge variety of opportunities on offer. And, like the Guides, we also love to go ‘out and about' and take part in camps and indoor residential events.

Whether you are brand new to Girlguiding or have been a member for ages, there is something for you!
