Beechwood school

Beechwood Sacred Heart Independent School

Beechwood is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 3-18, founded in 1915 by the Society of the Sacred Heart. We are a Catholic school but welcome children of all faiths.

Focus on Excellence

At Beechwood, we believe in excellence in teaching. In our small classes we provide teaching that facilitates learning and inspires our pupils to explore new ideas so that they achieve their full potential. A cognitive development programme focuses on higher-order thinking skills, encouraging independent thinking, a more positive approach to problem-solving and better habits of learning - essential skills for university and success in the world of work. Pupils in the Senior School enjoy access to a wide range of GCSE and A-Level academic courses and have an enviable degree of flexibility when selecting their option choices. Most pupils go on to study at their first choice of university.

Teachers stimulate pupils to excel in what they are good at and build confidence in areas they find difficult. Academic standards are important and we challenge our pupils to do their best. We also encourage our boys and girls to participate in a wide range of extra- curricular activities, trips and visits. Beechwood is a popular, friendly school where standards of conduct and behaviour are exceptional.
